The festival of Uttarayan was celebrated with pomp in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also participated in the programs organized during this period. On the occasion of Uttarayan of the Sun, people gathered on the roofs and grounds of their houses and enjoyed kite flying. During this, colorful kites were seen fluttering all over the sky.
Home Minister Amit Shah also celebrated the festival at Vejalpur in Ahmedabad with his family, friends and BJP leaders. He started his day with family members offering prayers at the Jagannath temple.
Thereafter, the Home Minister along with his wife reached a residential society in Vejalpur where they also enjoyed kite flying on the terrace of a local BJP leader’s house. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar and also met Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also reached Dariyapur to celebrate the festival and met his old friends and BJP leaders. They also flew kites from a terrace there.
However, there were also reports of some tragic accidents during the festivals. According to the police, a three-year-old girl died after her throat was slit due to the use of Chinese manja in Visnagar town of Mehsana district. In several places, there were reports of people getting injured due to Chinese manja in kite strings and falling from a height during kite flying.
