To become Deputy Superintendent of Police (Police Telecom), physical qualification similar to that of Provincial Police Service will also be necessary. There will also be a medical test as well.

Both these provisions were not there yet. The educational qualification for this direct recruitment post has been made equivalent to Engineering. This provision has been made in the Uttarakhand Police Telecom Gazetted Officer Service Rules 2023. The rules were approved in the state cabinet meeting. The UP Police Radio Service Rules, 1979 were still in force due to the absence of new service rules.

In the new service rules, for direct recruitment to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police, now a post graduate degree in Physics from any University as a compulsory subject or Electronics from any University, or Electronics and Communication or Electrical Engineering or Information and Communication Technology, or Electronics and Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering will be required.

Apart from this, there will also be provision for physical qualification and medical examination similar to Uttarakhand Provincial Police Service. The age limit has now been changed from 21 to 35 years instead of 21 to 27 years.

Now 100% posts will be filled by promotion. In Police Telecom, promotion was done through the Public Service Commission on the posts of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Superintendent of Police and Additional Superintendent of Police. But now the state government will constitute a committee for promotion.

There was no provision of qualifying service for promotion to all these posts. But in the rules, provision has been made for 20 years of service for promotion to the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police, 12 years of service for Superintendent of Police and seven years for promotion to the post of Additional Superintendent of Police.

Apart from this, the cabinet has also approved the Uttarakhand Investigation Procedure Rules-2022. The Chief Minister had given permission to it with prior deviation. Under this policy, photographs and videography will also have to be done of the promises in which the investigation is going on.
