The discussion of Lok Insaaf Party President and former MLA Simarjit Singh Bains and former MLA Balwinder Singh Bains going to BJP continued in the political corridors. Till late evening, Bains brothers did not confirm joining BJP. It is believed that both the brothers may join the Bharatiya Janata Party in the coming days. Significantly, the Bains brothers started politics with the Shiromani Akali Dal. Later both the brothers joined Akali Dal Badal.
Both brothers were legislators twice
Especially elder brother remained in SGPC as a member for many years, then Simarjit Singh Bains became active in Akali Dal, contested for the post of councilor and won. Since then Simarjit Singh did not look back. After making a significant impact in the politics of the city, Simarjit Singh Bains asked for the assembly ticket from the South seat from the Akali Dal, but did not get the ticket. Angered by this, Simarjit Singh Bains left the party and contested as an independent candidate.
Contested the election after getting angry with the Akali Dal and won
Meanwhile, Simarjit Singh Bains surprised everyone by defeating Akali Dal candidate Heera Singh Gabadia in the election. Both the brothers won two seats in the elections. After this, both the brothers made the Akali Dal restless by winning the 2012 and 2017 assembly elections. In 2022, Simarjit Singh lost the assembly elections due to the allegations of rape leveled against Simarjit Singh Bains by a woman. He was defeated in a triangular contest. However, Bains has been calling the allegations baseless.
BJP also wants to set foot firmly in Punjab
In this case, he has also got bail from the court. There is a buzz in the political circles that at present the political ground of the Bains brothers is shaky. For this reason, they can go to the national party BJP. At present, BJP also wants to establish a strong foothold in Punjab. That’s why the party is constantly inducting Congress and Akali Dal other strong leaders into the party. Anyway, at the time of the 2017 presidential election, both the brothers had also voted for BJP’s candidate Ramnath Kovind at the behest of the BJP. In such a situation, both have a good rapport with the BJP leaders. He is likely to join BJP.
