Punjab, 19 March 2023: Preparations for the siege of Amritpal Singh, chief of Waris Punjab De, who challenged the security arrangement of Punjab De, started only after the meeting of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on March 2. There was a conversation between the two leaders for about 40 minutes. After the meeting, Bhagwant Mann had said that the Center and the state would work together on law and order in Punjab. Since then speculations were being made that Amritpal Singh could be clamped down.
The police took action against Amritpal after making a complete plan. Since the incident of attack on Ajnala police station on February 23 by Amritpal and his supporters, the demand for major action was being raised. Opposition parties were constantly targeting the Mann government. Punjab government took full 22 days to take action against Amritpal Singh. During this his every activity was closely monitored.
Bhindranwala was being compared
Ever since the February 23 incident, Amritpal Singh was roaming around in Punjab giving provocative statements. He even threatened Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Describing Sikhs as slaves in India, they had also demanded a separate country. Looking at his costumes and speeches, he was being compared to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

SSP Satinder Singh, SSP Swarnadeep Singh and SSP J Elenchelian were entrusted with the task of cracking down on Amritpal Singh. In the first phase, SSP Satinder Singh canceled the arms licenses of the people roaming with Amritpal Singh. Waris Punjab’s Twitter handler Gurvinder Singh was not allowed to go to UK, he was implicated in a legal case.
Doaba area selected for action
DGP Gaurav Yadav had instructed the officials that any action against Amritpal Singh should be taken before going to Malwa. A large number of Sikhs are associated with Amritpal Singh in Malwa, hence the area of Doaba was chosen. Amritpal Singh was to come to participate in the religious ceremony at Baisakhi Wala Gurughar in Bhador town of the district at 4 o’clock on Saturday. A team was deployed near Amritpal Singh’s village Jallukheda in Moga and the village was sealed. Two teams were deployed at Mahitpur. In the morning, para military force and police officers prepared the entire route by sitting in the police line. Half the force was deployed on the National Highway and the rest was divided into detachments and placed on the Nakodar-Shahkot road.

Amritpal’s supporters brought to Jalandhar CIA
Police has brought Amritpal’s supporters to Jalandhar CIA in a dozen vehicles. He is being questioned here. The police had covered the glasses of the vehicles. It is being told that the supporters of Amritpal who have been arrested have been brought to Jalandhar.
