Odisha got its first Vande Bharat Express as Prime Minister Narendra Modi The train was inaugurated on Thursday. The 16-coach train will cover a distance of 500 km between Howrah and Puri and will take approximately six and a half hours to complete its journey. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several railway projects worth over Rs 8,000 crore in Odisha today.
At the launch of the Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express train, PM Modi said, “Vande Bharat is a symbol of developed India and aspirational Indians. When Vande Bharat moves from one place to another, it shows the speed and development of India.”
“Vande Bharat Express will further strengthen the religious, cultural and spiritual connection between Howrah and Puri. Today, 15 Vande Bharat trains are running in the country, boosting both connectivity as well as the country’s economy,” added PM Modi.

Vande Bharat Express Ahead of the launch of the Vande Bharat Express train, Ashwini Vaishnav and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, along with BJP leader Sambit Patra, visited the Jagannath Temple in Puri ahead of the launch of Odisha’s first Vande Bharat Express train.
Ashwini Vaishnav also inspected the Puri Railway Station at midnight to take stock of the work progress. According to the SER official, the Prime Minister will flag off the Howrah-Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express from Puri through virtual medium at around 1 pm on Thursday.

According to the PMO, the new Vande Bharat Express will provide “very fast and comfortable travel” to passengers. Besides this, the initiative will also boost tourism and boost economic development.
train number and timings
Regular operation of 22895/22896 Howrah-Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express will commence from 20 May. The train will run six days a week except Thursday.
The train will depart from Howrah at 6.10 am to reach Puri at 12.35 pm and return from Puri at 1.50 pm to reach Howrah at 8.30 pm.

Vande Bharat Express train consists of two types of coaches, AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. Puri – Howrah Route The cost of an AC chair car is Rs 1430, inclusive of Rs 328 catering charges, while the cost of an executive chair car is Rs 2615, inclusive of Rs 389 catering charges. The food option is optional and if the passenger chooses the ‘No Food’ option, the catering charge will not be added to the fare.
