Gandhinagar The Sessions Court had completed the trial against Asaram on Monday and found Asaram guilty under sections 376, 377, 342, 354, 357 and 506 of the IPC.
In the rape case, the sessions court of Gandhinagar has sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment. In this case, the court had completed the hearing on Monday and reserved the decision.
Earlier in the court, the prosecution in its arguments had demanded life imprisonment to the accused Asaram Bapu. Also said that the accused is a habitual criminal and a heavy fine should also be imposed on him. Please tell that Asaram Bapu is currently lodged in Jodhpur jail, where he is serving life sentence for raping a minor girl.
Asaram convicted in 2013 case
Gandhinagar’s sessions court convicted Asaram Bapu in the case of raping a woman in 2013. Asaram Bapu raped the female disciple several times between 2001 and 2006 during her stay at the ashram in Motera, Ahmedabad.
The prosecutor made this demand
Prosecutor Kodekar said that in the crime committed by Asaram, there is a provision of life imprisonment or 10 years of punishment, but we had demanded that Asaram is serving jail sentence in another similar case and is a habitual criminal. In such a situation, the prosecutor demanded strict punishment for Asaram and also imposed a heavy fine.
