Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said on Friday that the Voice of the Global South summit has paved a new path for greater cooperation towards the priorities of developing countries for India.
He said this after concluding a two-day virtual summit organized to echo the priorities, perspectives and concerns of the developing world. Kwatra said there was a clear sense that the Global South was being adversely affected by developments they had no role in making, and that this was not how these should be addressed.
The Foreign Secretary said that India attaches great importance to the views and suggestions put forward by the participating leaders and ministers during the summit. Kwatra said that India will make its strongest efforts to include these views, these priorities, the concerns of the countries of the Global South through international fora and of course during our G-20 chairmanship.
He is the ‘Voice of the Global South’ The summit provided an opportunity for India to chart a new path of comprehensive partnership. The Foreign Secretary said that India attaches great importance to the views and suggestions of the leaders and ministers participating in the summit.
Kwatra said leaders of 125 countries, including 47 from Africa, 31 from Asia, seven from Europe and 29 from Latin America and the Caribbean, participated in the summit.
