‘Country bearing the consequences of PM Modi’s silence’: Congress attacks China on renaming of places in Arunachal

Arunachal Pradesh The Congress has made a scathing attack on the Central Government and Prime Minister Modi for naming many places. The Congress says that China has been given a clean chit by Prime Minister Modi. The Congress also questioned the Prime Minister’s silence on China’s action. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has said that the country is facing the consequences of Prime Minister Modi giving a clean chit to China.

‘Prime Minister gave clean chit to China’
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote in his tweet that ‘for the third time China has dared to name our areas in Arunachal Pradesh. Six places were named on 21 April 2017, 15 places on 30 December 2021 and 11 places on 3 April 2023. Arunachal Pradesh is and will always be an integral part of India. The country is facing the consequences of the clean chit given to China by Prime Minister Modi after the Galvan incident.

Jairam Ramesh raised questions
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this issue. He said that ‘recently a top Chinese ambassador had claimed that the situation on the India-China border is now stable but China’s aggression continues. Now it has released the Chinese names of places in Arunachal Pradesh for the third time. Earlier this was done in 2017 and 2021 as well. Jairam Ramesh said that ‘the country is paying the price for PM Modi’s clean chit given to China in June 2020 and PM’s silence on China’s action’. Jairam Ramesh said that after about three years, the Chinese army is not allowing Indian soldiers to patrol in the strategically important Depsang, whereas earlier patrolling used to happen there. Now China is trying to change the status quo in Arunachal Pradesh.

Instead of 11 places, China named
China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs on Sunday named 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh. These names are kept in Tibetan, Chinese and Pinyin scripts. The places named include two residential areas, five hilly areas and two rivers. China’s official newspaper Global Times has given this information.
