Corona: Every fourth person infected in Delhi-Uttarakhand, most new forms in Gujarat

During the investigation, almost every fourth person in Delhi and Uttarakhand is found to be corona infected, whereas in Gujarat maximum number of new forms of the virus are seen circulating.

According to statistics, Delhi and Uttarakhand have found 29 and 25 percent of the sample corona infected respectively, while in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Kerala the infection has started coming down to below 10 percent. On the other hand, maximum number of cases of XBB.1.16 and XBB.1.16.1 from Omicron are being found in Gujarat, Delhi and Maharashtra. So far, both these variants have been found in maximum 825 patients in Gujarat and more than 500 in Delhi.

New forms of virus reached 15 states
INSACOG has said in the report submitted to the ministry that two forms of corona virus XBB.1.16 and XBB.1.16.1 have been found in 15 states so far. Genomic surveillance revealed that both variants were confirmed in 2252 patients from these states. Along with India, the presence of these forms is being detected in most of the patients in America as well.

Reduced infection in many states

The Ministry of Health believes that the infection has reduced in many states as compared to the previous weeks, but this effect will be visible in the coming weeks. A senior official said, on one hand, a trend of decline in new cases is visible in many states, but due to increase in patients in some states like Delhi, the total number is getting between nine to 10 thousand. The infection spread has come down but it will be visible in the next one to two weeks.

  • The XBB.1.16 variant was found in 1884 patients and XBB.1.16 was also found in 368.
  • Gujarat, Delhi and Maharashtra are the states where both these forms are found most in the patients.
  • There are 719 cases in Gujarat, 445 in Maharashtra and 424 in Delhi of the XBB.1.16 variant.
  • 106 cases of XBB.1.16.1 variant have been found in Gujarat, 82 in Delhi and 65 in Maharashtra.

9,111 new cases of infection, 27 deaths
In the last 24 hours, 9,111 new cases of corona have been reported in the country. After this the total number of infected increased to 4,48,27,226. At the same time, the number of patients under treatment increased to 60,313. According to the data of the Union Health Ministry, 27 people have died due to corona in the last 24 hours, due to which the death toll has increased to 5,31,141. According to the data, the daily rate of infection in India is 8.40 percent and the weekly rate is 4.94 percent. At present, 60,313 people are being treated for corona virus infection in the country, which is 0.13 percent of the total cases. The national rate of recovery of patients is 98.68 percent.
